# Instagram\*

Instagram\* business account and connecting the channel in Athena

The Instagram\* channel can be added if there is an Instagram\* business account linked to the business page [Facebook\*](/documentation/documentation-en/channels/social-networks/facebook.md). If that's already done, proceed to step 13.

A mobile app is required: some functions are not available in the browser.

## Professional account

If you already have a professional account, skip this section.

**Step 1.** Profile → menu → **Settings and privacy**.

**Step 2.** Scroll down → **Account type and tools**.

**Step 3.** **Switch to a professional account**.

**Step 4.** Choose a category and click **Done**.

**Step 5.** Be sure to select **Business**.

**Step 6.** Enter your contact details and click **Next**.

## Accounts Center

**Step 7.** Connect to [Facebook\*](/documentation/documentation-en/channels/social-networks/facebook.md) and log in to the profile.

**Step 8.** Link the Instagram\* account to the page [Facebook\*](/documentation/documentation-en/channels/social-networks/facebook.md).

**Step 9.** Complete the 5 profile setup steps — all required.

## Access to messages

**Step 10.** Again **Menu** → **Settings and privacy**.

**Step 11.** **Manage messages**.

**Step 12.** Turn on **Allow access to messages**.

**Step 14.** Log in.

**Step 15.** Confirm the permissions and click **Continue as \[username]**.

**Step 16.** Select the Instagram\* business account and click **Next**.

**Step 17.** Enter the channel name and click **Next**.
